Today is an international day for girls. A day dedicated to tackling the issues that affect girls across the world. Unfortunately, we still have a lot of issues to tackle when it comes to the girl child within our society today.
Unfortunately, many people still believe that girls are second class citizens and should be treated that way.
Women all over the world have spent years unlearning the incorrect stereotypes that was pressed upon them when they were growing up. These stereotypes affected the way we behaved and viewed ourselves. We want to get to a point where these stereotypes are kept as a thing of the past. We want to get to a place where girls all over the world are empowered to excel in a field of their choice and not held to outdated and restrictive traditions.
Here are mantras that girls can use to empower themselves:
- I am strong girl.
- I am confident.
- I am important.
- I can achieve anything I set my mind to.

Final Thoughts
I do remember certain things I heard growing up that I should never have heard that really affected my self esteem. I have made it a mission to unlearn these things. I am glad to see that there is a day dedicated to empowering the girl child.
