A poem about numbing to avoid complex emotions. Written at a dark point in my life when I was avoiding dealing with my emotions by watching Netflix shows to cheer myself up.
Numbing.
You do that a lot these days.
Netflix without the chill,
as you scan for comedy.
Forced laughter.
Sleep deserts you.
Eyes burning.
Heart racing.
The turmoil loop,
every night.
Enough is enough.
In the darkness of shadows,
where the bear silently growls
they are finally unleashed
Tears stain your pillow.
Then comes peace.
Then joy.
