Grips of Grief: A memoir by Ayo Deforge book review

The author sent me an advanced copy in July. I had been meaning to finish it, but so much was going on. It took me a few months to get back to it. I finally finished reading it in November.

Grips of Grief is a memoir by Ayo Deforge. It describes the effects of grief on her life after losing her mother at a young age. The memoir also details the pain of facing adulthood without parental guidance and care.  Infertility, faith, and community is a resounding theme in the book.

What I loved about the book?

I loved the author’s raw vulnerability and honesty about self-discovery while dealing with lifelong grief. She was open about her struggles with fertility. I found it encouraging how she leaned on her faith to get through these challenges.
